Our History
From a cramped room in the city offices to a mountain-view library and gathering place, here is how the North Logan City Library came to be.
How the Library Began
North Logan's library began small. For about two years it operated out of roughly 820 square feet inside the city's offices at 2076 North 1200 East, in a building that had previously been a doctor's office and a grocery store, serving residents of North Logan and neighboring Hyde Park. Cramped as it was, the community cherished it.
In the fall of 1997, voters approved a $2 million bond for a larger, central library. Construction ran from August 1998 to October 1999, producing the building that stands today on 2500 North, angled toward the east-bench mountains, with pine-lined vaulted ceilings reaching 30-foot peaks. The library has been a gathering place for North Logan ever since, guided by its motto: "Explore. Enrich. Engage."

Milestones Through the Years
The library has grown alongside the city, adapting to new technologies while staying true to the welcoming spirit of North Logan.
A Modest Beginning
The library first operated out of roughly 820 square feet inside North Logan's city offices at 2076 North 1200 East, in a building that had also served as a doctor's office and a grocery store. It offered modest but cherished service to North Logan and neighboring Hyde Park.
A Bond for a Bigger Library
In the fall of 1997, North Logan taxpayers approved a $2 million bond to secure a central site and build a larger, permanent library meant to become the hub of the community.
The Current Library Opens
Construction began in August 1998 and finished in October 1999. The new building was angled to face the east-bench mountains, with vaulted ceilings soaring to 30-foot peaks and a Book Nook used-book room run by the Friends of the Library.
A Modern Catalog
The library went live on the Koha library system with the Aspen Discovery catalog, working with ByWater Solutions to migrate more than 52,000 records into the online catalog patrons browse today.
A Quality Library
The North Logan City Library received the Utah State Library's Quality Library Award, recognizing its programs, collections, and service to the community.
Expanded Digital Access
A major donation dramatically expanded the library's Libby ebook and audiobook collection, by then about 42% of all checkouts, cutting hold times for readers across the statewide Beehive Library Consortium.
Community Center & Library Remodel
Alongside North Logan's new municipal complex, a community center was built next to the library, and the library underwent an extensive remodel that added a dedicated children's library, computer lab, and study rooms along with a new roof and HVAC. The work was supported by the Friends of the Library and the James P. Thorne Charitable Endowment.
